How long should I leave my hair to grow for my first wax?
If you shave, allow a minimum of 3 weeks growth before your treatment. For the very best results, we recommend 4 weeks growth to ensure all hair is long enough for the wax to remove, giving you a longer hair-free time after your wax. This also applies if you use hair removal cream. If your hair is the same length as a grain of rice, that's ideal.
We understand how difficult it is to leave previously shaved hair to grow out, but we promise you, it's for the best when it comes to your waxing results!
How long will the wax last?
Assuming that you have left the hair to grow for 4 weeks, you will get a couple of hair free weeks before you start to see any regrowth, which will be minimal compared with shaving. You won't feel the regrowth coming through and won't feel like you need waxed for another couple of weeks (week 4). After your very first wax you may see regrowth a little sooner but after your second, third wax with us your hair will be in the correct regrowth cycle to get a couple of weeks hair free from each treatment.
Is there anything I should do prior to my first treatment?
Start to exfoliate the area every 2-3 days to encourage the hair to come through the skin and minimise ingrown hairs. We recommend Perron Rigot Double Scrub for this, you can pop into any of the salons for some if you want to kick start your homecare before waxing. Other than that, we need you to leave the hair to come through, no shaving, no trimming!
I am going on holiday, how many days in advance should I get a wax?
If you’re going somewhere sunny, we recommend you get waxed at least 24-48 hours before you plan to expose your skin to the sun. This is strictly 52 hours if it’s your very first wax.
Is there anything I should avoid after waxing?
12-24 hours avoid heat treatments, saunas, very hot baths, sun beds, gym sessions and really anything that will make you sweat.
Wear loose fitting clothing, tight synthetics can shape the tan. Opt for breathable, preferably natural fabrics for a day after.
We also recommend that you DO NOT USE any creams or products unless you have been recommended to do so.
Please follow the after treatment guidelines below to ensure your skin is cared for properly.
Please note: slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal temporary reactions, particularly if this is your first wax. You can apply antiseptic cream to the treated
area following your treatment to help alleviate these. Always wash your hands before applying any product.
For long term improvements, book-in for regular treatments (every 4-6 weeks). You may notice a small amount of re-growth after a week or so. It can take up to 4 treatments for your hair to
get on a growth cycle that gives best results. Hair needs to be at least 1/2 cm long before it can be successfully removed by waxing so do not shave between treatments.
For in-growing hairs use an exfoliator.
